Spencer Boyd died at his home in Chelan at 10:30 o'clock on Tuesday forenoon, June 25th, after only thirty-six hours' sickness with neuralgia of the heart, complicated with acute Bright's disease. Spencer Boyd died at his home in Chelan at 10:30 o'clock on Tuesday forenoon, June 25th, after only thirty-six hours' sickness with neuralgia of the heart, complicated with acute Bright's disease. All day Sunday Mr. Boyd was apparently in his usual health. In the early evening he was seized with pains about the heart, and grew steadily worse. D. Mitchell was summoned, but the patient soon after lapsed into unconsciousness and continued in that state until death. The funeral service was held at the family home at 10 o'clock yesterday, conducted by Rev. Wm. Hoskins of the M. E. church. A large concourse of friends and neighbors were in attendance at the obsequies; and the universal esteem in which the deceased was held was attested by the closing of all places of business during the funeral hour. Spencer Boyd came into the Chelan valley with his family in 1891, and since that time has been identified with everything that meant the best for the valley. He was a native of Illinois, having been born in Fulton Co., on July 15, 1842. While yet a boy he removed with his parents to Iowa, where he resided continuously until he removed to Lake Chelan. On attaining his majority he enlisted in the Fourth Iowa Independent Battery and served until the close of the war. On December 13, 1867, he was married to Mary J. Rains. Four children were born to them, all of whom resided here and were at the father's side during his last hours. They are William L. Boyd, Mrs. Emma Roland, Elmer L. Boyd and Miss Minnie Boyd. These and the widowed mother are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father and husband.
