Gray was born Jan. 12, 1872, and departed this life May 19, 1929, being 87 years, 4 months and 8 days of age. She was the daughter of Benjamin D. and Rachel M. Roark. She was married to William R. Gray, Feb. 25, 1891. To this union four children were born, all dying in infancy. Her husband departed this life Dec. 16, 1909. She was born into the Family of God in November, 1887, embracing by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. She was a member of the Green Ridge Baptist Church. She leaves five brothers and one sister, and has two brothers and two sisters who have gone on to be with Him, whom to know is life eternal. Those living are: John A. Roark, of Eldon, Mo.; Benjamin M. of Jefferson City, Mo.; Samuel G., of Eldon; Walter A. of Palm Springs, Calif.; Willie T., of Kansas City, Mo.; and Clemmie Kneisly of Enon, Mo. Those deceased are Joshua Levi, James Wesley, Lucy Ann, and Rachel Martha Rea. She leaves a host of relatives and friends who remember her as being kind and loving, patient and enduring, long suffering, having a smile and a kind word for all. For nearly thirty years she had been afflicted with rheumatism to the extent that she was unable to walk. She bore her "thorn in the flesh" always as one who knows that the Grace of God is sufficient. For the past several years she had made her home with her brother, Sam, on the old home place, but at the time of her death she was at the home of her brother, Willie, in Kansas City. During her recent and last illness many kind and loving hands ministered unto her, prayers were wrought on her behalf, but Almighty God in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call her to be with Him, which is far better. Therefore, we sorrow not even as others who have no hope, but rejoice with her that she has gained an entrance into the portals of immortality. Funeral services were conducted at the Olean Baptist Church, May 21, by Rev. Hicks. Interment was made in the Olean Cemetery. Article source: Nancy Arnold Thompson
