Read More	CANTRELL, MARY JANE JANE--Mary Jane Tatro Cantrell (Jane) was born August 23, 1944, in Geneva, to parents, Hazel and Duane Tatro. She passed away November 18th, 2018, at Brandel Manor in Turlock, Calif. Jane had a very aggressive form of Myelofibrosis/Leukemia. She passed away knowing that God, her parents and brothers were waiting for her. Mary Jane went to school (K-eighth grade) at District 3, a one-room school in the country. She graduated from Geneva High School in the Class of 1962. She continued her education at Lincoln School of Business. Mary Jane married George Cantrell on April 11, 1965, and moved to California after their marriage. Jane and George started their married life in the bay area, but soon moved to Turlock, Calif., where her brother Robert lived. They had visited a lot of weekends and decided that Turlock was more like Nebraska. People were friendly and there were a lot of farms and dairies in the area. Jane was very adept at shorthand. She always wanted to be like Della Street on the Perry Mason show. She came very close to doing that while working for attorney, Dan O’Connell for 20 years. In 1986, Mary Jane went to work for the city of Hughson. During her time with the city, she was not only the City Clerk, but also acting City Manager. No job was too big or too small for her. She always took great pride in everything she did. She retired from the city in 2008. Jane belonged to the California City Clerks Association; Modesto Garden Club as part of the multi-media group; the Modesto Area Street Rod Association and was a field editor for Taste of Home Magazine. Jane was known as one of the best cooks around. You could always count on her to bring a dessert. Her lemon meringue pie, chocolate chip cookies and homemade toffee were world famous. Jane and George traveled to every state in the U. S. in their motor home, making many good friends along the way. One of their favorite trips was a European cruise aboard a Viking Long Boat. They took both sides of their families on a memorable 50th Anniversary trip to Cabo Sn Lucas. Jane is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ronald and Robert and brother-in-law, Chuck Goosman. She leaves behind, her husband of 53 years, George; sister-in-law, Alice Tatro-Sukstorf (Gordon) and Ronald and Alice’s four daughters, who meant the world to Jane: Leann Dockins (Paul), Laura Gestring (Bob), Allison Jensen (Seth) and Andrea Perrin (Matt); sister-in-law, Betty Tatro; niece, Kileen Otis and nephew, Kraig Tatro; sisters-in-law, Carol Jean Goosman and Elieen Perkins (Ron); brothers-in-law Jim Cantrell (Wanda) and Steve Cantrell (Marcia); and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life was held on November 28, at the United Methodist church in Hughson, Calif. Burial will be held at a later date in Geneva.
