Description	:	OBITUARY Mrs. Mary Jane SCHILLING was born near Kalamazoo, Michigan, October 6, 1842, and died on a Denver & Rio Grande train near Red Cliff, Colorado, Friday evening, May 14, 1909. Mrs. SCHILLING with her granddaughter, Miss Helen SCHILLING, had spent the winter in California and was on the way to her home here. She was married to Adam SCHILLING near Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1859. The family moved to Brown county, Kansas, in the spring of 1870. Read More	OBITUARY Mrs. Mary Jane SCHILLING was born near Kalamazoo, Michigan, October 6, 1842, and died on a Denver & Rio Grande train near Red Cliff, Colorado, Friday evening, May 14, 1909. Mrs. SCHILLING with her granddaughter, Miss Helen SCHILLING, had spent the winter in California and was on the way to her home here. She was married to Adam SCHILLING near Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1859. The family moved to Brown county, Kansas, in the spring of 1870. At the tender age of 12 she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. When health would permit she was always found at Sunday school and the preaching services. Her life was like that of Jesus, going about doing good and no one who knew her could doubt her christian religion. When the Lord called she was ready. Eight children are left to mourn. They are: John SCHILLING, Los Angeles, California, Frank SCHILLING, of Fairview; Mrs. Nettie ROGERS, G. T. SCHILLING, Mrs. Dora CALNAN, and Jesse SCHILLING, of Hiawatha; Fred SCHILLING, of Hill City; Mrs. Florence McMILLAN, Pueblo, Colorado. There is one brother, A. E. WOODMANSEE, Tempe, Arizona; one sister, Mrs. Jewett HARRISON, Schueltz, Michigan and fifteen grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at the Methodist church by Dr. J. W. Scott. The body bearers were her sons and C. A. CALNAN and Jacob SCHILLING. Interment was made in the Hiawatha cemetery beside her husband who died six years ago. Mrs. SCHILLING was a member of the Eastern Star lodge, the Kelley Art Embroidery club and Sorosis and these bodies attended. The Eastern Star ritualistic services were held at the grave. Emil Brunner, of Westmoreland, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kelley, of Sabetha, attended the funeral. (Published in The Brown County World (Hiawatha, KS), May 21, 1909.)
