I just wanted to make sure she had a memorial as she was such a great lady. Jeannie was one of the nicest person you could ever meet. Read More	Jeannie's youngest (David) informed me that she passed away this morning (Sunday, 20-Sept-2015). I'm sure an obituary will be forth coming. I just wanted to make sure she had a memorial as she was such a great lady. Jeannie was one of the nicest person you could ever meet. Her household was one that was open to strays (both animals as well as neighborhood children). I was one of those strays. One could never be bored at the Thompson house as it was always full of love and activites. There was never a dull moment over at the Thompsons' place. Jeannie was a devoted wife who had just celeberated 60 years of marriage to Melvin Thompson. Melvin and all of their 6 children survive her: Floydene Kay Melvina Ilene Jody Ray Mitch Glenn Eldon Aubrey (alias Duke -- long story!;) ) David Carl You couldn't ask for a nicer family to be your neighbor. Jeannie and Melvin have countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, and she actually had TWO great great grandchild at the time of her passing. She told me that her formal name was Mary Jean (Williams), but to most she was known as Jeannie, Jean, or simply Mrs. Thompson. She was the oldest of three daughters of Floyd Edward "Pop" Williams & Ruby Ilene Newton She is proceeded in death by her parents, her step-mom, her step-dad, and her sister "Shorty", and Shorty's daughter Lynn. Jeannie's youngest sister, Peggy is still living. While findagrave does a great job of hooking up people with their parents, sometimes there are special connections that should not be overlooked. A few years back Jeannie and Melvin had a tough time as they had to bury one of their own grandkids (Melvina's younger son). They took special care of him when he got sick, so I want to make sure to put a special link to him in their bio: Jeremey Lynn Caldwell (1978-2004) Sadly, they also lost one great grandchild (Aiden Dean Hammock-Thompson) on 5-June-2014 (last summer). He was a little boy from Jody's branch of the family who sadly drowned in a freak act of nature. Unfortunately, I do not think he has a findagrave memorial at this time. (If I find his memorial, I will make sure there is a special link from this memorial to him too.). Nevertheless, I'm sure he is with his great grandma now too as well as the rest of his ancestors. Further back in time (4-Feb-1979), Jeannie lost a newborn grandchild, Mandy Laree Rush. She was the daughter of Floydene and her late husband Larry F. Rush who sadly passed away at a young age in 1990. May Jeannie rest in peace with all her loved ones (both human and pets). ======================== Her official obituary as it appeared on the funeral home website: ======================== Mary Jean Thompson, 76, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015, at the Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, Kansas. Born November 15, 1938, at Protection, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd Edward and Ruby Ilene (Newton) Williams, she was a homemaker. Jean was a longtime resident of Comanche County, KS, moving back to the area in 1985, previously living in Plains, KS. She attended Protection High School in Protection, Kansas. On August 30, 1955, she married Melvin Thompson at Clayton, New Mexico. He survives. She is survived by her husband: Melvin Thompson of Coldwater, Kansas; six children: Floydene “Sister” Little (Ray) of Tucson, Arizona, Melvina Caldwell of Seattle, Washington, Jody Thompson (Anita) of Liberal, Kansas, Mitch Thompson (Maggie) of Liberal, KS, Eldon “Duke” Thompson (Ken) of Wichita, KS, and David Thompson of Coldwater, KS; one sister: Peggy Stotler of Ashland, Kansas; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father: Carlyle Frazier; one sister: Faye Brooks; one granddaughter: Mandy Laree Rush; one grandson: Jeremey Caldwell; and one great-grandson: Aiden Thompson. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015 (Family Will Be Present From 5-7) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, Kansas. Funeral Service is at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, Kansas, with Andrew Evans presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to South Wind Hospice in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O.
