When about two years of age her parents moved to Helvey, living there three or four years, they moved then to their homestead south of Hebron, where Mrs. Hayes grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Newton Hayes Dec. 25, 1898. To this union one child was born, Lester Hayes who still survives his parents. He (sic) husband preceded her in death, Nov. 2, 1937. Also one brother and one sister, the sister dying in infancy, preceded her in death. One sister, Mrs. James Mahaffey of Hebron, survives her. She leaves to mourn her passing her son and wife, and four grandchildren - Harold, Robert, Cecil and Darlene Hayes, and her sister, Mrs. James Mahaffey, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 29, 1947 in the Chester Christian Church with the Rev. C.M. Foust officiating. She passed away on Monday at the Hastings Hospital. Services were conducted by tre (sic) Reverend C.M. Foust at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery.
