Reichley Hangs Self In Closet Of Her Home In Herington MOTHER LIVES HERE - Woman is Daughter of Mrs. J.T. Myers; Body Found By Son, 14 Years Old Mrs. E. J. Reichley, daughter of Mrs. J.T. Myers of Great Bend, was found dead in her home in Herington yesterday afternoon, according to word received here this morning. Mrs. Reichley was discovered hanging in a closet in her home. Vincent Reichley, 14 years old, a son found her body when he returned home from school about 4:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon. All doors and windows of the Reichley home were locked on the inside when the son returned from school. He finally succeeded in gaining entrance to the dwelling and after a brief search, decided his mother had gone out, probably locking the front door from the outside rather than the inside. Opening a closet to obtain an article of clothing he saw his mother hanging from a fastening in the ceiling. He carried the body from the closet and telephone his father, Dr. E. J. Reichley, a prominent Herington physician. Mrs. Reichley is well known here having lived here several years. Her two children, Vincent and a daughter and Dr. Reichley have wide acquaintance here. Mrs. Reichley had been in poor health several years. Her suffering had affected her mind, according to friends of the family, and she had tried to hang herself on several earlier occasions. During the last several years, she spent some time in a sanitarium, under special care, the friends said. According to word received this morning from Herington, Mrs. Reichley is believed to have hanged herself in the closet after having locked all the doors and windows to the house to prevent anyone entering and thwarting her efforts to take her life. Three physicians worked more than two hours in an effort to restore life, but were unable to save her. She was dead when discovered in the closet but the doctors had thought they might revive her by the use of adrenalin, the drug which when injected into the heart has proved so successful in restoring life in cases where the subject has been dead a short time. Besides her husband and two children in Herington, Mrs. Reichley is survived by her mother, Mrs. J. T. Myers of this city and three brothers, the Myers triplets of this city. Whether other relatives survive her could not be learned today.
