Description	:	The Nebraska Signal, August 1937: Mary Krause, fifth child of Anton and Caroline Krause, was born in the village of Kumersdorf in northern Bohemia, September 27, 1875. She passed away at her home near Ohiowa, Neb., August 20, 1937, at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 24 days. At the age of seven years she came to America with her parents, brother and sisters. Read More	The Nebraska Signal, August 1937: Mary Krause, fifth child of Anton and Caroline Krause, was born in the village of Kumersdorf in northern Bohemia, September 27, 1875. She passed away at her home near Ohiowa, Neb., August 20, 1937, at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 24 days. At the age of seven years she came to America with her parents, brother and sisters. They settled in Fillmore County, Nebraska, where she resided until her death. She was baptized in the Catholic faith in her native country. December 10, 1902, she was united in marriage to Gustav H. Freels of Ohiowa. This union was blessed by two children, Clifford E. of Ohiowa and Mrs. Mabel Rhoda of York. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister who died in infancy, and a sister, Mrs. Sophia Lapcheska, who died in 1915. Survivors include her husband, son and daughter, a grandson, Donald Charles Rhoda, one brother, Gust Krause of Geneva, four sisters, Mrs. Anna Schropfer and Mrs. Anton Schelbitzki of Ohiowa, Mrs. Rose Franck of Tobias, and Mrs. Herman Schafer of Higgensville, Mo., also other relatives and friends numbered by the score. Mrs. Freels lived a fine, upright life. Her Christian works extended into protestant churches, Lutheran or Methodist, where she frequently gave her service. She was a friendly woman, a lover of home, where she loved to gather her family and there let the sense of her love and affection surround them. She was a kind neighbor and friend. Mrs. Freels was a descendant of a pioneer family. Most of her life was spent here and she had many friends, not only among the older settlers, but younger folks, who learned with regret of her passing and extended sympathy to husband, daughter and son. Her smile and cheerful manner remain as high marks of her beautiful character which memory will ever preserve. The funeral was held Sunday, August 22, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church with a short service preceding from the home. E. E. Horner delivered the funeral message, which contained words of much comfort and consolation. A mixed quartet, Mrs. Albert Bahe, Max Garland, Mrs. I. C. Steele and Clifford Hurley sang "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer." "Lead Kindly Light," "Sometime Somewhere I'll Understand." At the home they sang "Good Night and Good Morning." The esteem and high regard of friends was attested to by the gathering of folks who assembled, filling the church to capacity, and the beautiful flowers that were offered. The floral tributes were in charge of Mrs. W. E. Molthan, Mrs. Gust Fries and Mrs. Chris Rathyen. Miss Marquerite Gundermann was at the piano. Neighbors were pallbearers, namely Christ Rathyen, W. E. Molthan, D. H. Sweney, Roy Meyer, Henry Mussman Jr. and Louis Morgan. Interment was in the Ohiowa Cemetery.
