Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on February 26, 1990, at the Walter Funeral Home in Anthon with Rev. Keith Hair officiating. Grandchildren served as pallbearers and they included Mike Parker, Amy Parker, Sandy Swanger, Peg Milligan, Shelli Maffit, and Mitzi McGill. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon. Mrs. Jorgensen, the former Mary McDermott, was born March 2, 1906, in rural Anthon, the daughter of William and Carrie (King) McDermott. She lived in the community most of her life. She married George Parker November 5, 1924; he died in 1932. She married Arlo Jorgensen on January 31, 1935. They farmed in the Anthon area until 1969, when they retired into Anthon. He died November 16, 1988. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Margaret Rickabaugh of Sergeant Bluff, a son and daughter-in-law, George and Maxine Parker of Anthon, six grandchildren, Sandra (Mrs. Doug) Swanger, Peggy (Mrs. John) Mulligan, Shelli Maffit, Mitzi (Mrs. Dennis) McGill, and Amy and Michael Parker; eight grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Cathryn Chinn of Wall Lake, Iowa. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy; two sisters and a brother.
