Born in Nelson County on May 13, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Corbett Warren White Sr. and Emily Huffman White. Mary was the store manager for Mac's Market for many years. She had a welcoming spirit and a friendly nature that was contagious. She played an active role and was an integral part of her community. Read More	Mary Louis White Evans, 84, of Roseland, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018. Born in Nelson County on May 13, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Corbett Warren White Sr. and Emily Huffman White. Mary was the store manager for Mac's Market for many years. She had a welcoming spirit and a friendly nature that was contagious. She played an active role and was an integral part of her community. She had been a life-long member of Jonesboro Baptist Church where she served in numerous and various capacities. She also loved working the trail rides with the Fleetwood Community Center. Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Wendell Massie Evans and his wife, Donna, and her daughter, Audrey Diane Evans, both of Roseland; her granddaughter, Danita Evans Massie and her husband, Michael, and her great-grandchildren, Kyle Massie Evans, Stevey Kendell Evans and their mother, Najomi Evans, and Jasper Alexander Massie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Helton Massie Evans; brothers, Samuel White, Corbett W. White Jr., John H. White Sr., and Wilson L. White Sr.; sisters, Eliza Martin and Gertrude Martin; and her grandson, Steven Wendell Evans. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at Jonesboro Baptist Church by Pastor Wayne Underwood and Pastor Dave Huffer with burial to follow in Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Roseland Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 39, Roseland, VA 22967, Fleetwood Community Center, 276 Earley Farm Rd., Amherst, VA 24521, or to the Jonesboro Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 40, Roseland, VA 22967.
