One of nine children, she was born to Austin and Emma Engel Montgomery on a farm in Jewell County, Kansas, near Superior Sept. 16, 1903. She attended schools in Webber, Superior and Mankato and the Presbyterian Church. Nov. 5, 1924, she was united in marriage to Louis Hare in Mankato. This union was blessed with six children. Many years they farmed in Jewell County, Kansas. She had lived in Lincoln and was making her home in Holdrege at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis, Feb. 22, 1961; three brothers, Dallas, Clarence and Ellis Montgomery; an infant sister, Frances; and a granddaughter, Penny Markowski. Survivors include her six children, Charles of Charlotte, N. C., Donald of Fremont, Merle of Central City, Isabelle Markowski of Lincoln, Mrs. Howard Warneking (Mary Lou) of Loomis, Neb., and Arnold of California; three sisters, Margaret Doxon of Superior, Pauline Fox of Omaha and Mrs. Phillip Preston (Katherine) of Mount Moriah, Mo.; one brother, Lyle Montgomery, Englewood, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
