Chico Enterprise-Record, Tuesday, December 3, 1968: Mary M. Girard. Recitation of the rosary will be conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home here at 8 p.m. today for Mary Mae Girard, 87, of 2527 El Paso Way, who died at a local convalescent home Sunday evening. Mrs. Girard was born in Willows May 22, 1881, and was married to the late Joseph E. Girard there. She and her husband moved to Chico in 1913 and established their home on Keefer Road where she live3d until 1963 when she moved to her present address. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Survivors include six children: Marcella Moore, Richard and Leo Girard, and Verona Beauchamp, all of Chico, and Al Girard of Berkeley, and A. M. Girard of Sacramento; one brother, Herman Fortier of Durham; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. At 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, a cortege will proceed to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where requiem mass will be offered for the repose of the soul beginning at 10 a.m. The Fr. Charles Fagan, pastor of Our Divine Savior parish, will officiate. Interment will be in the Chico Cemetery by the side of her late husband, who died in 1960. Casketbearers will be Manuel Gomez, Floyd Giles, Harry Riedel, Charles Andrews, William Andrews and Caleb Baker.
