Departed this life January 30, 1933, at the age of 78 years, five months and 14 days. She grew to womanhood and was a very successful teacher and in mind lived over those days and ties in the last days of her illness, especially the old time literary days. Highbarger Mary Mildred Streepy, daughter of McDowell and Rhoda Streepy, was born on a farm just west of Cincinnati, Iowa, Appanoose county, August 16, 1854. Departed this life January 30, 1933, at the age of 78 years, five months and 14 days. She grew to womanhood and was a very successful teacher and in mind lived over those days and ties in the last days of her illness, especially the old time literary days. She was united in marriage to Daniel Highbarger in 1881, who preceded her in death, May 2nd, 1924. Five children were born to this union, three dying in infancy. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ada Swan of Numa, Ia., and one son, William A. Highbarger, of Cincinnati, Iowa. Five grandchildren, Pearl Highbarger of Kansas City, Mo., Dorthy, Marie, Billy Jr. and Mary Charlotte Highbarger of Cincinnati, Ia., one great grandchild, Joan Catherine Highbarger. One sister, Mrs. Laura Besse of Cincinnati, Ia., and many relatives and friends. She has made her home since the death of her husband with her daughter Ada, who tenderly cared for her mother in her declining years. Both son and daughter have been very devoted to their mother in the years of her loneliness and widowhood. "Grandma" Highbarger, as she was lovingly called, was a wonderful mother, living her life again in those of her children and children's children, ever ready to make sacrifices for their welfare and happiness. Mrs. Highbarger, in the early years of her marriage accepted Christ as her savior, feeling the need of a guiding hand in rearing her family. Her daily life has been a beautiful example of faith and trust. As she drew nearer the end of life's journey, and as the physical body grew weaker she left many expressions of spiritual beauty which will be ever cherished by her family. "Farewell, dear mother, full well we know you did your part. Farewell, mother, your life is written in our heart." Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 in the Methodist church at Cincinnati, Ia., after which the body was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Evergreen cemetery. Rev. Cleaton (spelling?) officiated.
