Description	:	HOURIGAN, MARY—Mrs. Charles M. Hourigan of Geneva passed away at the Geneva General hospital Friday, November 4,1955. She had been ill three weeks, during which time every effort was made to restore her health but to no avail. Mary Murphy, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Murphy, was born on a farm near Exeter April 13, 1881. She was united in marriage to Charles M. Hourigan February 18, 1903, at Exeter. Hourigan of Geneva passed away at the Geneva General hospital Friday, November 4,1955. She had been ill three weeks, during which time every effort was made to restore her health but to no avail. Mary Murphy, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Murphy, was born on a farm near Exeter April 13, 1881. She was united in marriage to Charles M. Hourigan February 18, 1903, at Exeter. Five children were born to this union. One daughter, Mrs. Golie (Marguerite) Swails, preceded her in death, passing away in 1944. The family lived on the Timothy Hourigan farm two miles south of Burress when Mr. Hourigan farmed with his brother Jack five years before moving to Geneva in 1908. Geneva has been their home since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Hourigan celebrated their golden wedding anniversary February 22, 1953. Surviving are her husband and four children, Mrs. Kathleen Wendell of Denver, Col., Miss Geraldine Hourigan of Denver, Col., Mrs. Jean Ekeler of Exeter and Charles P. Hourigan of York; eight grandchildren, seven brothers and sisters, Mrs. R. D. Erdkamp of Exeter, Mrs. F. R. O'Neil of Omaha, Mrs. J. E. Barrett of Tobias, Leo p. Murphy of Exeter, Frank Murphy of Exeter, Mrs. L. D. Wood of San Francisco, Cal., and C. J. Murphy of aurora. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph church in Geneva Monday, November 7. Msgr. J.E. Ekeler of Crete officiated at high mass. He was assisted by Msgr. P. J. Healy of Exeter and Rev. Paul Ulenberg of Geneva. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal November, 1955
