Description	:	Mary Pearl Olliff Long-Time Resident of Lebanon Area Mary Pearl Ollliff, the oldest of seven daughters of Leo Leonard and Mary Martha Durrett Shook, was born Feb. 15, 1903, in Holton, and died June 29, 1998, at Downs Nursing Center at the age of 95. Read More	Mary Pearl Olliff Long-Time Resident of Lebanon Area Mary Pearl Ollliff, the oldest of seven daughters of Leo Leonard and Mary Martha Durrett Shook, was born Feb. 15, 1903, in Holton, and died June 29, 1998, at Downs Nursing Center at the age of 95. When she was a few months old, her parents moved back to the Independence neighborhood north of Lebanon. That vicinity was her home until her marriage, except for a year or so in Lebanon and about that long in Esbon when she was 12 to 15 years of age. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Lebanon High school in May 1921. Later she attended Fort Hays State College for a time. She taught rural schools for three years. She was married to Ira Versailes Olliff on Dec. 23, 1923. They set up housekeeping on a farm three miles northwest of Lebanon, and resided on the same farm almost 45 years until Versailes died in 1968. In May 1989, Pearl moved to Lebanon, where she was living at the time of her death. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Lebanon. She and Versailes were the parents of three children: Mary Doreen, Margaret Joan, and Norman Gene. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and two sister, Mabel Grewell and Alice Elwood. Survivors include her children: Mary Doreen Stones and Margaret Joan Ream and her husband Duane, all of Lebanon; Norman Gene Olliff and wife Carol of Norton; six grandchildren, Kent Stones and wife Cindy of Lebanon, Larry Stones of Kirwin, Mark Stones and wife Janet of O'Fallon, Mo., Kristi Ream of Wichita, and Shelia Engel and husband John and Verland Olliff and wife Corrina, all of Norton; and five great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a beloved foster granddaughter, Margaret Dykens and family of Norton; four sisters, Lola Grewell of Red Cloud, Neb., Theo Barney of Denver, Doris Hill and Thelma Wachs and husband Rex, all of Smith Center. Pearl will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The funeral July 4th at First Christian Church, Lebanon, was officiated by Rev. Arden Roush, with music by Cindy Stones. Casket bearers were Kent Stones, Mark Stones, Larry Stones, John Engel, Verland Olliff and James L. Dykens. Burial was at Sweet Home Cemetery, Lebanon.
