Doreen was born November 10, 1924 to Ira Versailes Olliff and Mary Pearl [Shook] Olliff of rural Lebanon. She attended Grandview country school and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1943. Read More	Mary Doreen Stones, 88 of Lebanon passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Phillips County Retirement Center, Phillipsbug, Ks. Doreen was born November 10, 1924 to Ira Versailes Olliff and Mary Pearl [Shook] Olliff of rural Lebanon. She attended Grandview country school and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1943. She was often seen running the 3/4 mile distance to the country school and just about everywhere else she went. Doreen was united in marriage to Marvin Stones on July 31, 1943. They made their life in the Lebanon community and raised four children. They worked side by side on various ventures including farming and Stones Service Cleaners and Dry Goods Store. In 1969 she began working for the First National Bank of Lebanon where she remained a loyal employee for 22 years. At an early age Doreen grew her relationship with her father God and the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Lebanon Christian Church when she was fourteen years old. Doreen was water baptized for the second time in the Jordon River while on a trip to Israel in 1983. She became active in the Lay Witness Missions movement and loved sharing her faith with others. She was always supportive of the youth in the Lebanon community and was privileged to teach the teenage Sunday school class for 25 years, matching the record of her favorite aunt, Stella Roush. She and her husband Marvin, along with Doc and Peg Luke, organized a motor coach trip for a large group of area kids to Jesus 74 youth rally in Mercer Pennsylvania. Marvin and Doreen thoroughly enjoyed traveling and camping. Following Marvin's death she continued to travel, often with her friends. She and Peg went to the United Kingdom twice and traveled extensively throughout the northeastern United States. A particular fond memory she had was of the missions trip to Haiti with her daughter-in law Cindy. In her retirement years Doreen was still moving at her fast pace. She stayed active volunteering her time with her family, Hospice, and church. Doreen was preceded in death by husband Marvin Stones, parents Versailes and Pearl Olliff, in-laws George and Beulah Stones, and brother-in-law Jim Richardson. Surviving family members left to cherish her memory are: Kent Stones [Cindy] of Lebanon, Larry Stones of Phillipsberg, KS and Christy Whitehair [Tony], Mark Stones [Janet] of Broken Bow Nebraska and grandson Steve, Margaret Dykens [James], Mary Ruth Byler, and Leslie. Also surviving is a sister, Joan Ream[Duane], a brother, Norman Olliff [Carol] and sister-in laws Betty Richardson, Vera Keever [Walt] and Janice Allen [Roger]. Her love for her Lord and Savior remained her strength all her life and is her glory today. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the mortuary. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Lebanon Christian Church in Lebanon Kansas with Pastor Sandy Kennedy Officiating.
