Crawford, 78, a resident of this community for the past 60 years, died at her home on north Fourth Avenue Saturday afternoon after a lengthy illness Funeral services were conducted from Coder's Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. W. H. Hart, pastor of Pleasant Ridge Friends church in charge. He was assisted by the Rev. J. H. Krenmyre, pastor of the local Methodist church. W. H. Hart, pastor of Pleasant Ridge Friends church in charge. He was assisted by the Rev. J. H. Krenmyre, pastor of the local Methodist church. Special music was furnished by Mrs. Roswell Jordan and Dale Textor with Mrs. Jack Russell at the piano. Casket bearers were Wm. Mountain, Wm Pfeiffer, Clabe A. Yager, Elmer Schumacher, John Schumacher and Milton Teter. Interment was made in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Mary R. Elliot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Elliot, was born in Union county, Ohio June 29, 1861 and departed this life February 17, 1940 at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 19 days. She was the third in a family of six children. In 1880 she came to Iowa with her parents in covered wagon taking six weeks for the journey. On arriving in Iowa they located in Richland township, Carroll county. On June 4, 1887 she was united in marriage to L. G. Crawford Mrs. Crawford united by letter with the Pleasant Ridge Friends church July 3, 1901 and for many years she taught in the Sunday school and was active in church work. She will be greatly missed In addition to her husband she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jennie Dixon of Ames; two brothers Lincoln Elliot of Ogden and Thomas Elliot of Coon Rapids; and by Mrs. Francis Campbell of Columbus, Ohio, who was taken by Mr. and Mrs. Crawford to raise at the age of four years. Mrs. Campbell came a week ago Monday; Mrs. Dixon, Mr. and Mrs Guy Dixon, and Miss Alpha Wren came from Ames for the services Monday, Clifford Zunkel and Mr. Clark earner from Ogden. Lincoln Elliot, was, in Florida and unable to attend the services.
