Grubb, 97, formerly of Beallsville passed away quietly on January 12, 2018, at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick. Born November 25, 1920, in Burkes Garden, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edward Johnson and Ida Lake (Neal) Wynne. She was the wife of the late J. Edgar Grubb and they were married 43 years. Ruth was preceded in death by three sisters, Eula Luhn, Ida Neal, and Ethel Wynne; and four brothers, Buford, Ralph, Hubert and Wylie Wynne. She graduated from Poolesville High School in 1938 and worked at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda from 1945-1965. After her retirement, she and her husband started a quite successful nursery business selling beautiful flowers and plants. She was a life member of Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of Crafty Ladies and Gents and always helped with apple-butter making. In addition, she was a life member of the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and of The Rebekah’s Independent Order of Odd Fellows. She is survived by ten nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by nine godchildren, and a host of friends in the Poolesville area and Homewood at Crumland Farms. The family will received friends on Tuesday, January 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Hilton’s Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD (hiltonfh.com). Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17 at the Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville, MD. Interment will follow at Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. The family extends thanks to Homewood at Crumland Farms staff for their dedicated care and support during the last 16 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ruth Grubb to Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 358, Poolesville, MD 20837 or to the UMCVFD Auxiliary, 19801 Beallsville Road, Beallsville, MD 20839.
