Mary Susan Huffman was born February 2, 1854, in Cass County, Ill., and died at Sedan, Kansas, November 23, 1920, aged 66 years, 8 months and 9 day. Mary Susan Huffman was born February 2, 1854, in Cass County, Ill., and died at Sedan, Kansas, November 23, 1920, aged 66 years, 8 months and 9 day. She was united in marriage to Miller Alexander Huffman November 18, 1874. To this union were born eight children, J.L. Huffman, of Elk City, Emma J. Miles of Bolton, Millie S. Hadley, of Bolton, I.E. Huffman, of Wayside, Alice Holze of Hunnewell, Kansas, and Maggie Millington of Sedan, Kansas, Minnie Ellen and Ida Gertrude, and the father and husband preceded her in death. In 1880 the family removed to Montgomery county, Kansas, and settled in the vicinity of Bolton, which has since been her home. Since the death of her husband three years ago she has lived with her children. She was converted about thirty years ago, and united with the Friends Church. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. Her gentle disposition and kindly offices made her life a blessing to all who knew her. She leaves two sons, four daughters and four brothers and a large circle of acquaintances to mourn her loss. During her illness of three weeks she spent much of her time in prayer, exhorting her loved ones to meet her in heaven. Such a life lived among us for forty years, speaks where words fall and gives an assurance that all is well. Funeral services were held at the Friends Church of Bolton, conducted by the pastors, D.S. and Sadie V. Pickett, and burial was made in Harrisonville cemetery. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield)
