Description	:	From a local newspaper (unknown) copy provided by the Tama County Historical Society, dated 8 Mar 1906 "Mary Valina Donaldson was born Jan. 4, 1842 near Youngstown, Ohio; came to Iowa with her parents when but six years old and settled in Jackson county. At the age of 13 she came with her parents to Tama county and settled on the old Donaldson farm on the southeast quarter of section 25, Carlton township, where she remained until Jan. 28, 1864 when she was united in marriage with Noah P. Steveson and during the civil was from '62 to '65 she was... Read More	From a local newspaper (unknown) copy provided by the Tama County Historical Society, dated 8 Mar 1906 "Mary Valina Donaldson was born Jan. 4, 1842 near Youngstown, Ohio; came to Iowa with her parents when but six years old and settled in Jackson county. At the age of 13 she came with her parents to Tama county and settled on the old Donaldson farm on the southeast quarter of section 25, Carlton township, where she remained until Jan. 28, 1864 when she was united in marriage with Noah P. Steveson and during the civil was from '62 to '65 she was employed as a school teacher. To Mr. and Mrs. Steveson was born 11 children, 7 sons and 4 daughters. The oldest daughter, Lula R. Babb, preceded her to her eternal home 7 years ago in May. The rest are all living and were present and ministered to her in her last illness.. The boys are Thomas, Jesse, Harry, Elmer, Julius, Jay, Arden, and the daughters are Mrs. Peter H. Sells, Mrs. Jens P. Lorensen and Mrs. Peter O. Crawford. She also leaves 21 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was one of a family of 11 children, 6 girls and 5 boys of which there are 3 sisters and 2 brothers still living. She united with the Free Will Baptist church at the age of 16 and was always interested in the cause of Christ, but for several years she has not been able to attend meetings very regularly. She has been slowly declining for the past few years and at last died of consumption Sunday, Feb. 25, 1906 at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 21 days. She was very patient in all of her suffering. She leaves to mourn her loss an aged husband, 10 children and a host of kind friends."
