Steveson Died Sunday At Toledo Home Funeral services for Thomas Fishburn "Bernie" Steveson, 82, were held at the Harrison funeral home at Garwin on Tuesday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. Robert MacCanon, pastor of the Toledo Evangelical United Brethren church. Pallbearers were Ellwin Sells, Rex Sells, Neil Sells, Marvin Sells, Wilford Sells, and Donald Steveson. Mrs. Oscar Miller of Marshalltown was in charge of flowers. Mr. Steveson had been seriously ill for six weeks prior to his death at 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, at his home in Toledo. Mrs. Oscar Miller of Marshalltown was in charge of flowers. Mr. Steveson had been seriously ill for six weeks prior to his death at 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, at his home in Toledo. He was born Mary 29, 1868, near Montour, the son of Noah Preston and Mary V. Donaldson Steveson. He had six brothers and four sisters. "The family soon moved from the Montour community to the Whippoorwill community north of Toledo where he was educated. He purchased a farm adjoining his parents place when a young man. On Dec. 7, 1899, he and Ada Weldy were married at his farm home. They had three sons and one daughter. Mrs. Steveson died in 1911." With the exception of three years in Marshalltown and two years in Garwin Mr. Steveson lived on his farm until moving to Toledo in 1944. On March 10, 1934, he was married to Mrs. Cora Locke of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, at Marshalltown. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife, two sons, William and George; one brother, Jessie, of Denver, Colorado; and three sisters, Mrs. Lula Babb, Montour, Mrs. Lilly Sells, Gowrey, and Mrs. Anna Crawford of Toledo. "Surviving are his widow, a son, Floyd, Toledo, a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Hazel) Wiese, Montour; five brothers, Harry, Colorado Springs, Elmer, Salt Lake, Julius and Jay of Marshalltown and Ray of Portland, Oregon and a sister, Mrs. Ida Lorenzen, Marshalltown." Also surviving are nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four step children and two step grandchildren. Burial was at Garwin. From the Toledo Chronicle 16 Nov 1950
