White, who for the past eight months has been a patient sufferer from chronic nephritis, died last Thursday afternoon, April 28, at 5:30 o'clock, at her home in the eastern part of the city. She had been for several days in a very critical condition and her death was not unexpected. Her children had been summoned to her bedside and most of them arrived before she breathed her last. White, who for the past eight months has been a patient sufferer from chronic nephritis, died last Thursday afternoon, April 28, at 5:30 o'clock, at her home in the eastern part of the city. She had been for several days in a very critical condition and her death was not unexpected. Her children had been summoned to her bedside and most of them arrived before she breathed her last. Mary Galbraith was born in Osgood, Ontario, Canada, in the year 1846. Her childhood and early womanhood was spent here and on Feb. 7, 1867 she married at Ottawa, Canada, Mr. H.D. White, the husband who survives her. For three years, from 1862 to 1865 he served as provincial land surveyor and in 1867 they moved to Rochester, N.Y. Here they lived about a year and also a year at Boone, Ia. From Boone they came to Union county in 1870 and homesteaded a claim on the Sioux river, northeast of this city, which was their home for 40 years, until they moved into the city last year. Mrs. White is survived by her husband and ten children, the children being as follows: Mrs. P.H. Callahan, Elk Point; Mrs. Frank Dowd, Fremont, Neb.; Mrs. T.P. O'Connor, Minot, N.D.; Mrs. Jas. A. O'Leary, Elk Point; Misses Cordelia and Mary and Harry, Elk Point; W.P., C.J., and J.T. White, Minot, N.D. She was widely known among the early pioneers of the county and universally and highly respected. Her death will be a keen, personal loss to a wide circle of friends and relatives. The funeral attended Sunday afternoon, May 1, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a very large concourse of people being in attendance. Rev. Father Salmon conducted the funeral services and the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery. Of people out of town attending the funeral may be mentioned, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Patton, Mike and Susie O'Hara, Geo. O'Hern, John and Thos, Degnan, all of Sioux City and Mr. and Mrs. W.P. White and C.J. White of Minot, N.D. and Frank Dowd of Fremont, Neb."
