Read More	Dayton Review May 11, 1913 OBITUARY This year the death-list grows apace; April 30th Mrs. Mathilda Gustafva Urelius left us. She was born in the parish of Stenberga, Jönköping län, Sweden, August 17, 1858. In 1877 she came to Altona, Illinois, and in 1884 to Dayton. October 5th of the same year she and her husband united with the Lutheran Church of Dayton. They settled on a farm a few miles northwest of town and a few years ago bought the beautiful farm one and a half miles north of Dayton, where the family is now living. Four years ago this coming July, a son, Robert, was called hence. Since then she has not been very strong. While yet a young girl she gave herself to God. She was warm-hearted, sympathetic, cheerful, meek, and upright. The fruits of the Spirit abounded richly in her. She was not thus because of indolence and weakness, for she was aggressive and of a positive, well developed character. The grace of God was made manifest in her. Hence those who knew her well mourn her seriously. During the past few weeks she has been ailing and a complication of diseases set in. It was proposed to take her to Augustana Hospital, Chicago, for treatment. Realizing that death might be near, she bade farewell to relatives and nearest friends the Sunday afternoon before she died. With the other members of the family she received communion, the pastor repeating to her by way of preparation the substance of the morning's sermon on the words of Christ: "Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." She then confided herself into God's hands and declared herself ready to die, if it were God's will. Her strength, however, had been miscalculated, for when being prepared for her departure, she fainted and very soon the end came. A little group of friends were waiting for her at the depot. The next day they heard of her death. She leaves a husband and two children, Hulda and Arthur; also other relatives in the vicinity and in Chicago. The funeral service Sunday afternoon was attended by at least 500 people, the church being well filled. The pastor spoke in Swedish on "Finishing the course with joy" and in English on the words of Ballam: "Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his." The church choir sang the appropriate prayer by Flemming, "Helige Fader, boj ditt ora neder" and Miss Anna Sandstrom, "Till fridens hem." Her remains were interred in the Dayton cemetery.
