Description	:	Services were held Friday, Feb. 16 at Second Reformed Church in Lennox for Matilda Poppens who passed away on Feb. 12, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital. She attained the the age of 95 years, four months and 26 days. Pallbearers were Lloyd Poppens, Clarence Smit, Albert Iken, Marvin Bultena, David Apple, and Allen Fincher. Interment was held in the Lennox Cemetery. Matilda Kay Poppens was born on a farm near Lennox, South Dakota on September 16, 1911, the daughter of Harm and Kate (Smit) Brinkmeier. She attended rural school and helped on the farm until she grew to womanhood. On March 3, 1937 she was united in marriage to Arnold Poppens at Lennox. They lived most of their married life on a farm north of Chancellor. In 1976 they moved into Lennox where Arnold operated a shoe and canvas repair shop. Matilda enjoyed working by Arnold's side, both on the farm and in the shoe shop. She also enjoyed making quilts. She was a member of Second Reformed Church in Lennox. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnold, on Sept. 8, 1984 and her sister, Minnie Glowik, on Nov. 24, 2000. Grateful for having shared her life are two sons and their wives, Dennis and Judy Poppens of Lennox and Wayne and Yvonne Poppens of Larchwood, Iowa; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
