Description	:	Ellen Finn, later Sister Helen Marie, was born at Carroll, Nebraska, on December 13, 1910. The daughter of James Finn and Elizabeth Jennett, she was raised on the family farm near Carroll. She was the youngest of their ten children. When her parents retired, she moved with them to Wayne, Nebraska, where she attended Wayne State College. She also studied at Creighton University in Omaha, earning advanced degrees in mathematics and education. In 1930 Ellen became a novitiate with the Sisters of Mercy. The rest of her life was devoted to teaching, with assignments at schools in Chadron, Nebraska, Raton, New Mexico, Independence, Missouri, and Omaha. She finished her teaching career at the College of St. Mary in Omaha. Sister Helen Marie died at Omaha on August 9, 1978. She was survived by two sisters, Margaret (Dougherty) and Marie (Thun) and a brother, Raymond. She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Matthew, Michael, Clifford, William, John and Leo.
