She was born Dec. 8, 1915, in Stokes County to Maude Jessup Joyce and Floyd Perrin Joyce. On March 4, 1933, she married Clarence Wayne Arrington, who preceded her in death. Read More	HIGH POINT, NC ~ Maude Estelle Joyce Arrington, 95, died July 3, 2011, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1915, in Stokes County to Maude Jessup Joyce and Floyd Perrin Joyce. On March 4, 1933, she married Clarence Wayne Arrington, who preceded her in death. She worked as a dietary supervisor at High Point Memorial Hospital and Thomasville Hospital from where she retired. She was a member of Oakview United Methodist Church. She was a former Girl Scout leader and attended a national Girl Scout convention in Havana, Cuba, in the 1950's. She was a member of the High Point Republican Ladies Club, in 1962 was vice chairman of the local precinct and ran for N.C. House of Representatives. She was a person who believed she could make a difference and gave tirelessly of herself to her family and others. Her home was one of warmth, welcome and friendship. She is survived by her devoted “6 J’s,” Joy Duffy (Milton) of Pilot Mountain, Janie Eldrith (Ray) of High Point, Judy Hagwood (Henry) of Oxford, Jerry Clapper (Bruce) of Moneta, Va., Jimmy Arrington (Becki) of Greensboro and Jeanne Krieger (Dr. Gary Krieger) of Boulder, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2011, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. The Rev. Frances Browne and the Rev. Greg Dickens will officiate. Interment will be at Brims Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 268 East, Pilot Mountain at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to Brims Grove Baptist Church or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.
