She was 99. Maude Williamson Cox was born on Sept. 27, 1884, in Pomeroy to Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Williamson. Her father, Frank Williamson, came to the Washington Territory in 1876 and settled in Garfield County in 1878. His parents, John and Olive Williamson, settled about five miles south of Pomeroy on Pataha Flat, along with two, other sons, Oscar and Ward Williamson. Maude's mother Jennie Day Williamson, came to Pomeroy in 1879, to live with her uncle, Benjamin Day. She was the daughter of Lewis and Mahola Day, and Lewis was killed in theNez Perce Indian War, known as the Bannock War, near Mt. Idaho, in 1878. In 1881, Frank Williamson and Jennie Day were married and made their home where the Art Bunch family now resides on 5th and Pataha Streets. Mr. Williamson was one of the first business in Pomeroy. He orginally workded as a clerk for R.L. Rush and Company, and in 1878 he opened a drug store with Dr. Frary. He also served as a postmaster during President Benjamin Harrison's term. In later years he was a painter contractor. Jennie Day Williamson died in 1897 of comsumption, leaving six children; Don, Maude, Lew Day, Harley, Ray and Kate Aurene (Aurene Williamson Shawley), an infant. Maude was twelve years old when her mother died, and she lived with her father and family until Dec. 24, 1908, when she married Grant F. Ogden. Two children were born to this marriage; Frances Jennie Core, and Vern Frank Ogden. The marriage dissolved, and in 1918, Maude married Charles Cox, a Garfield county farmer who was widowed at the time. Charles had three children from his former marriage, Delbert, Glenn and Ellis. Maude and Charles raised their combined families in Garfield County except for a short time when they farmed in Nez Perce, Idaho. They farmed on Pataha Flat and later at Dodge Junction. She belonged to the White Shrine of Ventura, Calif., and Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and St. Peter's Epsicopal Church all of Pomeroy. Survivors include four sons, Delbert Cox of Orofino, Glenn and Ellis Cox, both of Pomeroy, and Vern Ogden of Yucaiapa, Calif., and one daughter, Frances Core of Ventura, Calif.
