Description	:	MAURICE A. BOWLUS, a well-known resident of Middletown, died at his home, yesterday evening after a long illness of tuberculosis, 50 years old. He was a life-long resident of Middletown district and was widely known and esteemed all over the county. For many years he was connected with the Internal Revenue service as a gnager. BOWLUS, a well-known resident of Middletown, died at his home, yesterday evening after a long illness of tuberculosis, 50 years old. He was a life-long resident of Middletown district and was widely known and esteemed all over the county. For many years he was connected with the Internal Revenue service as a gnager. Last February, on account of failing health, he was obliged to relinquish his work and return home. Abut that time he became bedfast and gradually declined until the end. He was a son of George Bowlus and was born on his father's farm near Middletown. After attending public schools in the neighborhood of his home he finished his education at the State Normal School, Baltimore, and afterward took up teaching. He taught school in this county for some years and later went into the employ of the Internal Revenue service. He was a Republican and for a long time took an active part in politics. For years he was a member of the County Central Committee and a well known party adviser. About two years ago he was a candidate for county treasurer. He possessed many traits that attracted friends and was regarded as an efficient employe in Internal Revenue service. He married Miss Mary Young, who with one daughter, Miss Olive Bowlus, a school teacher, this city, and two sons, Hugh, Baltimore and Pierce Bowlus, at home, survive. Services were held at the home; interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery; C.T.K. Gladhill was the funeral director.
