Description	:	Mavis Carlson, 66, Portland, died March 28, 1996, at Union Hospital in Mayville, N. D. Mavis Corrine Strand was born Dec. 19, 1929, near Portland, to Ted and Clara (Bothun) Strand. She attended rural school at Viking #1 near Portland and graduated from Portland High School in 1947. She married Raymond Carlson Oct. 24, 1948, in the Aurdal Lutheran Church at Portland. They lived in Fargo, N. D., until July 1949, when they moved near Portland and worked on the Strand family farm. Mavis Corrine Strand was born Dec. 19, 1929, near Portland, to Ted and Clara (Bothun) Strand. She attended rural school at Viking #1 near Portland and graduated from Portland High School in 1947. She married Raymond Carlson Oct. 24, 1948, in the Aurdal Lutheran Church at Portland. They lived in Fargo, N. D., until July 1949, when they moved near Portland and worked on the Strand family farm. They moved into Portland in 1950, and she worked as a cook in restaurants in Mayville and Portland until retiring in the late 1980's. They enjoyed their lake home on Golden Lake near Hatton, N. D., in the summer months. She was active in the Aurdal Ladies Aid and the Eagles Auxiliary, having served as president of the auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Raymond, Portland; one son, Ronald (Claudette) Carlson, Minnewaukan, N. D.; two daughters, Joan (Russell) Mueller, Maple Grove, MN and Debbie (Frank) Wells, Maplewood, MN.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, James (Henny) Strand, Portland; Orville (Arlene) Strand, Bismarck, and Maynard (Edith) Strand, Portland; two sisters, Agnes Braaten and Gladys Thuen, both Portland. She was proceded in death by parents and two brothers, Clarence and Ernest. Services were April 1 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, pastor Loren Gustafson officiating. Renae Haux played organ, and Paul Moen was soloist. Pallbearers were Thomas Braaten, Brian Strand, David Strand, Gary Thuen, Lynn Strand, Merle Strand and Mike Strand. Ushers were Lawrence Higdem and John T. Olson. Interment is in the Aurdal Cemetery, Portland. (Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, was in charge of arrangements) Contributor: Eileen Strand (50053923)
