He previously taught at Lain Technical Institute and was employed at Peerless Pump and Schwitzer. He graduated from Mooresville High School and attended Purdue University and Lain Technical Institute. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1966. He was a member of the Mooresville First United Methodist Church and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Services were entrusted to Carlisle and Son Funeral Home of Mooresville, Indiana.
