Description	:	Max was born in the Braasch log cabin north of Jansen, NE. He was 6'2" tall with dark hair and brown eyes. After the death of his father in 1940, he lived a short time with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schunelle on a farm near Harbine, NE, then with Gus and Haly Kunter at Ririe, Idaho. He later joined the CCC Camp, and in 1942 enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the Battleship USS Washington during WWII. He participated in the Battle of the Soloman Islands and on Guadalcanal. He was married in Smith Center, Kansas, on April 6, 1944, to Dorothy Maxine Johnson. They resided in Oregon for a short time when first married where they both worked in the shipyards. They moved back to Hastings, NE, and were both employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot near there. They were the parents of three children, Terry, Sherrie, and Mitchell.
