Heginbotham, 43, a lifelong resident of Holyoke, passed away at about 6:15 a.m. Friday at the Veterans Hospital in Denver where he had been a patient since July 9. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home. The only child of George and Blanche Garland Heginbotham, Max Garland Heginbotham was born April 10, 1913 in Holyoke. He grew to manhood here, attending the local schools, and was graduated from the Phillips County High School with the class of 1931. Mr. Heginbotham became co-owner and parts manager of the Garland Auto Company in 1934 and continued in this capacity for nine years. On August 3, 1943 he entered the Army and served his country as a soldier until March 27, 1946. He served in the European theatre for almost one and one-half years, arriving there on November 10, 1944, and returning to the U.S. on March 21, 1946. Most of his service was as a medical technician. After receiving his discharge from the armed forces, Mr. Heginbotham came back to Holyoke and after a time became co-owner and manager of the Ford Motor Company. He remained with that company from 1947 until 1950. He was united in marriage to Lavern Woodmancy on April 16, 1948, and in February 1951, they moved to a ranch six and one-half miles south of Holyoke where they continued to reside until Mr. Heginbotham's death. He was a member of the Holyoke Baptist church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and an honorary member of the Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department. Preceding Mr. Heginbotham in death was his mother, who passed away in October 1954. He is survived by his wife; his father; two adopted children, John and Diana Heginbotham, and other relatives and many friends.
