Her attendant wore a green dress with black accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Helmet Butt. Following her graduation from the Central City [NE] High School, she taught [country] school. She is now employed by the North Western Bell Telephone Company. Since his release from the service, the groom has been farming. He is the son of Mrs. Sallie Jensen of Aurora NE. Jensen, 82, of Grand Island formerly of Central City, died at the Nebraska Veteran's Home in Grand Island on Monday, July 31st. Services are Monday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Visitation is Sunday, August 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Solt Funeral Home. Burial is in the Central City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Maxine Marjorie Jensen was born on October 4, 1923; in Merrick County near Central City, Nebraska to Helmet and Lenore Alma (Brown) Butts. She grew up in Merrick County and graduated from Central City High School in 1941. She attended Nebraska Central College in Central City and taught in country schools for several years. She especially enjoyed instructing students to play various musical instruments. On September 30, 1947, Maxine M. Butts and Glenn H. Jensen were united in marriage in Lincoln, Nebraska. They made their home on their farm in Merrick County. Maxine worked for Bell Telephone until retiring. Glenn died on December 26, 1979. Maxine stayed very active with planting and maintaining flowers for the beautification of Central City's main street. She loved flowers and landscaping and took pride in the upkeep of the city's triangle and she donated her time and the flowers to maintain the sidewalk planters and the triangle. This prompted her to open a flower shop, Country Side Flowers. Maxine made floral arrangements for all occasions, specializing in weddings. She did everything from designing the flowers to providing all the equipment for each special event. After selling her flower business, she kept busy doing various volunteer projects. Maxine provided entertainment for many groups and nursing homes by playing her accordion and the organ. She helped deliver "meals on wheels" and was always involved with helping others in their time of need. She once ran a "Protected Game Bird Haven" for exotic outdoor birds. She bred and hatched many birds in her home using incubators. Her love of animals also included peacocks, turkeys, miniature deer, exotic birds, talking parrots, and dogs. She also loved cooking and baking. Maxine was a member of the Christian Church in Central City and regularly provided music for their services, the Telephone Pioneers, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Maxine is survived by her sister-in-law Wilma Butts of Hastings; nieces and nephews – Darcey and Jacque Butts of Glenwood, Iowa; Darnice Nyce of Hastings; Sherry Ruge of Boelus; Darwin and Janice Ruge of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Rowena and Ron Miller of Grand Island; Dwain and Pam Ruge of Grand Island; and Dana and Carla Ruge of Lewisville, Texas; and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her twin brother, Max Butts, her sister, Wilma Ruge; a nephew – Darell Ruge anda great nephew Michael Todd Ruge.
