Butt, and Robert Ruge, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Ruge, in Columbus [NE], Friday, April 30, 1948. Mrs. Ruge is a graduate of the Central City [NE] high school with the class of 1946. Mr. Ruge, who attended the schools in Central City, served in the navy during World War II. The newlyweds will reside in Central City. ************* Obituary - Central City [NE] Republican Nonpareil Newspaper - 1997: Wilma Arlene Ruge, 69, of Central City [NE], died Sunday, December 21, 1997 at Community Care in Central City. Services are Wednesday, December 24, at 10 A.M. at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Bradley Rick officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, December 23, from 5 to 9 P.M. at the funeral home. The organist is Arlene Scholz. The congregational hymns are "Beautiful Savior", "How Great Thou Art" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Pallbearers are Dick Munn, Mike Burke, Darcy Butts, Don Ohlman, Dave Ohlman and Francis Irwin. Mrs. Ruge was born on February 20, 1928, in Central City to Helmet and Alma Butts. She grew up in Merrick County [NE] and graduated from Central City High School in 1946. On April 30, 1948, she married Robert Ralph Ruge in Columbus NE. They made their home in Central City. Mr. Ruge died on December 28, 1972. Mrs. Ruge had been employed as a waitress at various restaurants including the Night and Day Cafe in Central City, she worked as a cook at the Park Place Nursing home and Bethesda Care Center for many years, had been a custodian for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and Sampson, Curry, and Hummel Law Offices, had cleaned homes for several local families, and helped her sister, Maxine Jensen, at Countryside Flowers. Mrs. Ruge was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church , Mary Martha Church Circle, had been art director for their vacation bible school, and taught Sunday school. She was involved in many community activities including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Parent-Teacher Association, and her children's school and sports activities. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary, had served as past president, and oversaw the Legion Medical Equipment Loan Program for many years until her health forced her to give this up in 1990. Her hobbies included flower gardening, baking, caring for birds and stray animals. She had a great love of all animals, her pride and joy being her little pug dog, Lady Bug. She is survived by one daughter; Rowena (Ron) Miller of Grand Island [NE]; four sons: Darell (Sherry) of Boelus [NE]; Darwin (Sharon) of Tulsa OK; Dwain (Pam) of Grand Island; Dana (Carla) of Honolulu Hawaii; one sister: Maxine Jensen of Central City; nine grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter; and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother; Max Butts, and an infant grandson: Michael Todd Ruge.
