Description	:	Maxine Peggy Jordan Burma, age 91, of Johnston, formerly of Boone, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. Per her wishes, Maxine has been cremated and a private family Celebration of Life will be held at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall in Boone. Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery near Boone. Born on December 13, 1929, in Boone, Maxine was the daughter of Orval and Edna (Peterson) Jordan. Maxine went to work at a young age as a telephone operator in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Harold Anderson in Jefferson on April 30, 1949. Three daughters were born to this union. She worked various jobs around Boone, Ogden, and Boxholm and on January 31, 1974, she married Elvin "Al" Grimes. They had one daughter together. Maxine worked in Food Service at Boone County Hospital until her retirement in 1992. She was united in marriage to Harold Burma on November 22, 1992. They moved to Kissimmee, Missouri, where they lived until 2011. In her free time, Maxine enjoyed going to estate sales, shopping and buying little gifts for others. She loved to decorate cakes and made all of the birthday cakes for her family for many years. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and delighted in her pets. She also took square dancing lessons at one time. Maxine is survived by her children: Susan, Sandra, and Gina She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall in Boone and online condolences may be left for Maxine's family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com. Maxine gave to many charities but her heart was with the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Boone County, Iowa.
