A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Greeley United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Marsh officiating. Maxine Rose was born October 16, 1928, in Greeley County, Nebraska to Richard and Rose (Huebner) Daudt. She was raised in the Horace and Scotia areas of Greeley County. Maxine attended grade school at Horace and graduated as the Valedictorian of Scotia High School in 1946. On June 11, 1946, Maxine was united in marriage to John Hahn in North Loup, Nebraska. The couple made their first home on a farm northeast of Greeley. Maxine received Normal Training and taught Country School for a short time. The couple moved to the Hahn Family Farmstead where they spent their married lives and raised their four children. Maxine was very active on the farm as she often worked in the fields, drove the tractors, and milked the cows. After her husband passed away in September of 1977, she continued to operate the family farm. In 1992, Maxine moved into Greeley. She worked as a laundry aide at the Greeley Care Home for over 17 years. Since July of 2007, Maxine has made her home at the Greeley Care Home. She was a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church; Greeley Methodist Women's Ladies Aid Society, Buzzin Dozen Extension Club and sang in the church choir. Maxine enjoyed cooking and baking and will be remembered for her delicious fried chicken. Her favorite hobby was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Kathy Hahn of St. Paul; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Vankat of Omaha, Linda and Joe Scott of Grand Island and Connie and Stan Trede of Kearney; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Betty Daudt of Chambers; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Eileen Grohmann of Greeley and Leola and Bob Marienau of Lemoore, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; step father, Kurt Bottcher; infant children, Roberta Jean and John Robert Hahn; and son-in-law, Jim Vankat.
