She was born in Hamilton on December 21, 1916, the daughter of Alois and Emma (Schwartz) Husser. Melba was a 1935 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Read More	COOK, Melba Anna Eleton Age 89 passed away Tuesday, September 5 2006 at Fort Hamilton Hospice Unit. She was born in Hamilton on December 21, 1916, the daughter of Alois and Emma (Schwartz) Husser. Melba was a 1935 graduate of Notre Dame High School. On May 16, 1936 she was united in marriage to Elijah Eleton and to this union three daughters were born. Elijah Eleton preceded Melba in death on August 12, 1963. On February 24, 1968 Melba was united in marriage to James "Cookie" Cook and he preceded Melba in death on November 26, 1978. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, St. Catherine Auxiliary #69 Knights of St. John, the Eagles Auxiliary and a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 1069 where she was named as Mother of the Year and proudly served as Flag Bearer. For 40 plus years she was a poll worker at the Board of Elections. Melba enjoyed her daily walks with her beloved dog, Buddy, reading and embroidering items for her children and grandchildren that have become treasured keepsakes. Survivors include her three daughters and their families, Jackie Grimes, Juanita (William) Hudson and Judy (Glen) Wolf; grandchildren, Denise (Mike) Nicholas, Michelle Julian and Jim Pate, Tom (Lisa) Amiot Jr., Tina McCollum, Stephanie (Bob) Houser, Jennifer (Rodney) Hampton, William (Mary) Hudson II, Sarah (Rodney) Spurlock, Joseph Hudson, Peter Hudson, Tobias Hudson, Glen (Ilsa) Wolf Jr. and Jeffrey Wolf; 29 great grandchildren; a devoted sister-in-law, Gladys Hunter; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brother, Buddy Husser and sister, Norma White. Prayer services will be conducted 9:15 am Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 So. 3rd Street. Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Saturday at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral Home.
