Description	:	Melissa Jane Anderson, daughter of William and Elizabeth Anderson, was born in Lagrange county, Ind., on December 20, 1849. Mrs. Mills died at 4 p.m. Monday at the home of her son, the Rev. I.R. Mills. She was 85 years old. She was married August 15, 1871, to Jared Mills at her father's home in Lagrange county, and they established their home on a farm of her father nearby where they lived five years. Read More	Melissa Jane Anderson, daughter of William and Elizabeth Anderson, was born in Lagrange county, Ind., on December 20, 1849. Mrs. Mills died at 4 p.m. Monday at the home of her son, the Rev. I.R. Mills. She was 85 years old. She was married August 15, 1871, to Jared Mills at her father's home in Lagrange county, and they established their home on a farm of her father nearby where they lived five years. To this union were born two sons, Ivan R. of Adair, Iowa, and Rollin V., who died in 1920, and one daughter, Clara E., who died in 1892. Mrs. Mills came with her husband to Iowa in the fall of 1876, settling on a farm 5 miles northwest of Villisca, and in October, 1893, the family moved into town so that the sons might attend high school here. Several years later another farm was purchased two miles northwest of Villisca which Mr. and Mrs. Mills operated until farm life became too strenuous for their advancing years, after which they returned to Villisca. After the death of her husband in 1926, Mrs. Mills lived alone until 1931 when advanced age made it necessary for her to live in the home of her son at Adair. She had lived in Villisca and this vicinity more than 55 years. Uniting with the Villisca Methodist church soon after moving to Iowa, Mrs. Mills was, at the time of her death, the oldest member of the church in point of years of membership. She was an active worker in the church in her younger days, finding a place to serve in each of its departments. Besides her son, Ivan R., of Adair, Mrs. Mills leaves three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs, Amanda Mills and Mrs. Clara Horning, both of Howe, Ind.
