Description	:	Melvin was born January 17, 1918, in Roslyn, South Dakota, the third of four children born to parents Olmer and Anna Olava (Kleven) Moen. He graduated from Roslyn High School in 1936 and entered the Army Air Corps in September of 1939. He served in Africa, Sicily and Italy, and was discharged in June of 1946 as a Master Sergeant with a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. Read More	Melvin was born January 17, 1918, in Roslyn, South Dakota, the third of four children born to parents Olmer and Anna Olava (Kleven) Moen. He graduated from Roslyn High School in 1936 and entered the Army Air Corps in September of 1939. They bought a farm in Ortley, South Dakota, then moved to Albany, Oregon in 1952 where they owned and operated Albany Automobile Towing (now AA Towing). They returned to their farm in Ortley in 1957. In 1983, they began wintering in Mesa and summered the last two years in Albany. Melvin was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Summit, South Dakota. He loved to visit with people and share his sense of humor. Melvin passed away Monday, October 18, 1999, at the Albany General Hospital in Albany, Oregon. He was 81 years of age. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gottfried Moen, and his sister, Irene Korsmo. Survivors include his wife, Lila Moen, of 53 years; a daughter, Linda Hanson, of Billings, Montana; a son, Ron Moen, of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Carrie Waddle, of Westfir, Oregon; four grandchildren; Jenna Hanson of Menlo Park, California, Karl Hanson of Bozeman, Montana, and Eric Moen and Kristen Moen, both of Summit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
