St. Helena: Melvin Otto Lingenfelter, a long-time Angwin [Napa Co., CA] resident, died at the St. Helena Hospital Thursday morning following a long illness. He was 84. A native of Star, Idaho, Mr. Lingenfelter moved to Cornelius, Oregon at the age of fifteen. He married the former Sarah Goulard November 26, 1914 in Brownsville, Oregon. They lived in Cornelius, Port Angeles, Washington and Yakima, Washington before moving to Angwin in 1931. Mr. Lingenfelter had the Star Postal Route that covered the Angwin and Deer Park area for 28 years, retiring in 1967. He also worked for Knipschild's Dehydrator and the Maintenance Dept. at Pacific Union College. He was a member of the Pacific Union College Seventh-day Adventist Church and a Charter Member of the Deer Park Senior Citizens Club. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lingenfelter of Angwin, and two daughters: Virginia Thorp of La Concepcion, Chiriquin, Republic de Panama, and Gwynne Schwartz of Newport News, Virginia. He also leaves five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in St. Helena. Entombment will be private in the St. Helena Cemetery. Donations to the Voice of Prophecy Radio Broadcast are preferred. (published by the "St. Helena Star") Note: His death certificate notes that his ancestry is "German/Irish". Lingenfelter is the German part, Larimore (his mother) must be the Irish. Melvin died from lymphcytic leukemia.
