Mrs. Colgrove died at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital Friday at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 24 days. Merle Althea Colgrove the daughter of Charles and Amey Linch, was born May 4, 1906, near Lincoln in Lancaster County, Nebraska. She moved to Rapid City, S.D., with her family in 1910. They later returned to Lincoln to make their home. May 20, 1926, she was united in marriage with Bert W. Colgrove at Marysville, Kan. This union was blessed with two sons, Max and Donald, and a daughter, Eleanor. In 1937, they moved to the Superior community to make their home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and was active in Olive Chapter, No. 63, Order of Eastern Star, the Rebekah Lodge and was a past noble grand. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bert, July 16, 1970; son, Max, March 19, 1980; and a grandson, Richard Wilcox. Survivors are her son, Donald Colgrove, Salina; daughter, Eleanor Wilcox, Truth or Consequence, N. M.; three sisters, Mildred Thelander of Superior, Lorraine Humann of Tecumseh and Ethel Ford of Wymore; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. The Rev. Phillip Thomas officiated at the services. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
