Merlin served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII serving from July 28, 1945 to Jan. 8, 1947. Stationed in Korea. He married Feb. 2, 1946 in Marysville, KS. to Mary Ann Fischer. He bought his fathers trucking business in Adams, Ne. and owned and operated Williams Transfer from 1952-1992.
