His death was a terrible shock to his relatives and friends as he was sick so short a time no one knew there was so much danger. But he was conscious to the very last and met death as a good Christian should, ready and resigned to go. Although he regretted to leave his little boys without a mother's and father's care as his wife preceded him a little over a year ago but he kept his little boys with him and his mother came and kept house for him but, she too was called away by the hand of death just three months ago. He still had courage and arranged things so he could still keep his boys with him and was very devoted to them. He was a devoted Christian and an honest and industrious man dearly loved by his family and friends and highly respected by all who knew him. The Knights of Columbus of which he was a member took charge of his remains. He was buried from the Catholic church Father Boutar officiating. There was no mass it being Holy Thursday but High Mass was celebrated for him on Easter Sunday. Michael Kane was born Oct. 1st, 1883 at Mammouth, Jackson Co., Iowa, moved to Dakota 1894, was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Kane in 1905 to which two children were born, Vernord, age 7 and Leonard, age 5. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons, three sisters, Mrs. Frank Ralston of Baldwin, Ia., Mrs. Mary Smith of Rawley, Ia., Mrs. Kate Ford of Letcher and one brother, Simon Kane of Letcher.
