Description	:	Michael was the son of Heinrich Christoph Glassel and Magdalena Lenora Sommerer. Biography from "The History of Mitchell and Worth Counties" Michael Glassel settled in Union Township in 1870. He bought wild land in section 23 and immediately commenced improvements. He built a neat frame house which was burned with it's contents in 1876. He immediately built another, this was also burned in 1879 along with a large barn with farming machinery, including a threshing machine. He then built the house in which he now lives. Biography from "The History of Mitchell and Worth Counties" Michael Glassel settled in Union Township in 1870. He bought wild land in section 23 and immediately commenced improvements. He has a good artificial grove and altogether a very pleasant place. He was born in Bavaria, May 1, 1839. In 1847 he came to America with his parents, who settled in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. He made his home there with his parents until twenty-seven years of age when he married Catherine Martin. Three children blessed this union: Annie, Edia and one that died in infancy. Mrs. Glassel died Dec. 8, 1872. His second wife is Julia Baugh. They have been given three children: Ferd, Emil and Bertha. Mr Glassel lived in Jefferson County until 1870, when he came to Worth County and settled as before stated. He has been a successful farmer and despite his losses now owns 200 acres of improved and pasture land. Note: 2 more children were born after this biography was published. They were Henry and Wilbur Glassel.
