About 5 months ago he made application for a pension, for injuries sustained in the service, but his lease of life was too short to see the termination. It was his hope that the government would recognize his claims, so that his family might be provided for after he was gone. His soldier record is second to none. He enlisted August 16, 1862 in the 113th OVI and was mustered out July 16, 1865. During the 3 years he was always ready for duty, whether in camp, on the march or in battle he was always found ready to do whatever was required of him. He participated with his regiment in every skirmish in which it was engaged and in the battles of Chicamauga, Mission Ridge, Atlanta, Jones Borrough, Bentonville and Kanesaw Mountains. Six of his comrades, one of them his captain, acted as pall bearers. Leaves a wife and four children.
