J. Fox M. J. Fox was born in Hollandtown, Brown county, Wis., Oct. 19, 1866, died Oct. 22nd, 1903, aged 37 years, 3 days. Deceased came to Butler county with his parents March 1878. Was united in marriage to Lena Van Lom June 3rd, 1896. He leaves his father, wife, two brothers and four sisters to mourn his loss. Deceased had been ill for several months with kidney trouble and death came as a relief from pain after his lingering illness. He was a prosperous farmer, well liked by all and having many friends. Funeral services were held at St. Francis church in Center, Saturday morning. Rev. Roche of Fairbury preached the sermon, assisted by Rev. Bardon. Fox died at his home in Center township, Wednesday, October 22, 1903, at 12:00 o'clock a. m. at the age of 37 years and 3 days. The deceased passed peacefully away afer several months of patient suffering from a complication of diseases and his spirit returned to the God who gave it, in whom he had implicit confidence. Deceased was a son of Thomas Fox, of this city, and has lived in Center township from childhood where he was well known and highly respected. He was a kind neighbor, a dutiful husband, an honored citizen and a faithful member of St. Francis Catholic church of Center township, of which he was always a liberal and generous supporter. About seven years ago Mr. Fox was united in marriage to Miss Lena Van Lom, who is now left to mourn the loss of a loving husband, there having been no children born to them. This funeral services were held from St. Francis' church Saturday at 10 o'clock a.m. at solemn high mass with Rev. Father Barden pastor, conducting the services. After mass a most able funeral sermon appropriate for occasion, was preached by Rev. Father Roche of Fairbury, who took for his subject, "Blessed are they who die in the Lord." Rev. Father Roche was pastor at the church when Mr. and Mrs. Fox were married and he performed the marriage ceremonies. After the discourse of Father Roche, the pasor, Rev. Father Barden made a few appropriate remarks relative to the life and character of the deceased. The funeral was largely attended by neighbors and friends, who came to pay their last respects to the memory of the deceased. The Banner joins the many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved wie and relatives.
