Mr. Fox was born in Ireland, coming to Nebraska while still a young man. He engaged in farming near David City until eight years ago when he retired and made his home with that of his daughter in Omaha. Surviving Mr. Fox are four daughters, Mrs. T. F. Mahoney, Bremerton, Wash.; Mrs. William Quade, Mrs. R. U. Wolfe and Miss Margaret Fox, all of Omaha, and one son, Mr. John Fox, David City, Neb. Also one brother, William Fox, Columbus, Neb., survives. Funeral services will be held with high mass at St. Cecelia's cathedral at 10 o'clock Monday. Thomas Fox, Long-Time Resident of Butler County, Died in Omaha. Born in County Tipperary, Ireland, in June, 1833, and living to the advanced age of 90 years, Thomas Fox, a resident of Butler county for many years, died at 4156 Cuming street, Omaha, on Friday, Feb. 20, at 11:30 p. m. Hardening of the arteries was cause of his death. He had been ill for a year. Mr. Fox came to the United States in 1850, when he was 17 years old. His occupation during his life was farming, and he followed this until 1900. Since then he had lived in the home of his son, John Fox, in Center township, spending part of the time with his daughters in Omaha. In 1858, in Brown county, Wis., Mr. Fox and Miss Catherine McCune were married. They came to Butler county in March, 1878. Mrs. Fox died in 1893. Eight children, four sons and four daughters, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Fox. Three sons, William, Thomas, and Michael, preceded their father in death. The surviving children are John Fox of David City, Mrs. Thomas Mahoney, of Seattle, Wash., and Miss Margaret Fox, Mrs. William Quaid and Mrs. Katherine Wolfe of Omaha. One brother, Wiliam Fox, of Columbus, father of Mrs. M. D. Murphy, survives. The body of Mr. Fox was brought to David City Monday evening and on Tuesday morning, at 10 o'clock, funeral services were held in St. Francis' Catholic church in Center township, conducted by Rev. Fr. Colleran. The pallbearers were Frank Aerts, W. F. Delaney, Dick Danaher, B. H. Eiting, Thomas Flynn and John Lanspa. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery. In attendance at the funeral from out of town were William Quaid and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wolfe from Omaha and William Fox, Mr. and Mrs. William Schram and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wade from Columbus. Mrs. Quaid and Miss Margaret Fox were unable to be present on account of illness which rendered them bedfast.
