Michael was born on July 27, 1953, in Pittsburg to Dives and Josephine (Thomas) Ray. He graduated from St. Mary's-Colgan with the Great Class of 1971. He then attended Pittsburg State University and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma. Michael married the love of his life, Jolene Carol Clark on April 22, 1989 in Joplin, MO. She survives at the home. Michael was employed by Names and Numbers as District Sales Manager of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Oklahoma. He also was an accomplished drummer and started at age 14 with Conny and the Bellhops, then with Smoot Mahuti and other local bands throughout his lifetime. He had a great passion for life and an undying love and devotion to his family. Michael had a true sense of humor and a passion for life. He never met a stranger. Michael is survived by his wife of the home, Jolene Carol (Clark) Ray and two loving children, Mason Michael, 18, and Sydney Jo, 17, two sisters, Maxine Conrad and Donna (Jerry) Gorman, in-laws Jim and Jane Clark and Joyce and Bill Elliott, sister-in-law Joni (Steve) Nelson, brother-in-law Jimi (Lynn) Clark, his aunt, Dollie (Keith) Williams, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (October 19) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pittsburg, with Father Thomas Stroot as celebrant. Private family burial will take place at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., Monday, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8 p.m. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, at the Brenner Mortuary to sign the register book. The family suggests memorials be given to Michaels Children's Education Fund to be set up at the Kansas Teachers Community Credit Union. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
