The eight children were: Lewis N., who was born in 1856 and died a year later in 1857; Michael Salonius, 1857-1934; whose children, Mrs. C. H. (Helen) Knos and Bessie Schneider live in Fayette, Iowa. Burch Schneider, their brother, is a resident of Athens, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Schneider's third child was Luella Mariah, 1859-1934. One of her children, Mrs. James (Eva) Leverington, lives in Maynard, Iowa. Two sons of Lydia Amanda, 1862-1944, are still living. They are Alva Garry, Ontario, California and Ray Garry, St. Louis, Missouri. Oelwein is proud of its two residents who are the children of the fifth child, George Andrew Jackson Schneider, 1863-1953. Still living in Oelwein are Mrs. Ben (Dorothy) Jenkins and Cecil R. Schneider. The late Art Schneider, a well-known businessman and quiet philanthropist, was also George's son. Sidney Lee, 1865-1926, the sixth Schneider child, has a son, Earl Schneider, living in Zephyr Hills, Florida. Wan Alva Schneider, 1867-1930, has no descendants living. The eighth child, Laura Antoinette (Blake), 1870-1936, has a son, Percy M. Blake, living in Sun City, Florida. On July 14, 1886 Mrs. Schneider passed away, and in the winter of 1886 Mr. Schneider took as his 3rd wife Lucinda Allen Meikle the widow of the late William Meikle. Lucinda was the daughter of Jonathan E. Allyn and Roxanna Lamb, Lucinda passed away March 22, 1891.
