Description	:	SIDNEY LEE SCHNEIDER Sidney Lee Schneider, third son of Michael Schneider, was born on a farm one and one-half miles north of Oelwein and died at his home, 210 North Frederick St., Oelwein, Iowa, June 11, 1926, at the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 24 days. Read More	SIDNEY LEE SCHNEIDER Sidney Lee Schneider, third son of Michael Schneider, was born on a farm one and one-half miles north of Oelwein and died at his home, 210 North Frederick St., Oelwein, Iowa, June 11, 1926, at the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 24 days. He spent his boyhood days, attended the district school and grew to manhood in the vicinity of his birth. He was united in marriage to Clara Meikle of Oelwein November 20th, 1889. They established their home on a farm five and a half miles northwest of town. In 1894 they moved onto a place two and a half miles northwest of town where he continued to live until he left the farm. To his union with Clara Meikle were born three sons, Claude W. who lives in southern Ilinois, Earl R. and Milo J., both of whom live near Fayette, Iowa. February 26th, 1906, the mother in the home died and the care of the children fell upon the shoulders of Mr. Schneider alone. He was united in marriage October 9th, 1907, to Pearl S. Lincoln who cared for him during the years of failing health and through his last sickness with great devotion. In April 1913, they left the farm and took up residence in Oelwein. Here he engaged in the automobile business which he continued to follow as long as his health permitted. He was in failing health for the last couple years and bedfast for the last four months of his life. Mr. Schneider was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and of the lodge of Royal Neighbors. He spent his entire life in the community in which he was born and was one of the best known and most highly regarded citizens of his town. He was a man of the highest personal honor and integrity, clean of habit and speech. He was refined as to his tastes, shunned the vulgar and ugly and cultivated and sought the beautiful. He was of a happy and accommodating makeup, ever helpful in all his associations. His home relationship was almost ideal--thinking and planning for the happiness of those about him he found the joy of life himself. While Mr. Schneider never united with any church he expressed his intension and desire to do so. He professed Christ as his Savior and followed him in the spirit and purpose of his own life. He was a man of great energy and yet during his last suffering he was patience personified, ever hopeful that he might get well. In his passing the community loses a good citizen, for he always stood for the best things; the family loses a good father and a faithful husband. He leaves mourning his departure his wife, his three sons, six brothers and sisters--M. S. Schneider, George A. J. Schneider, W. A. Schneider and Luella Bailey, all of Oelwein, and vicinity, Lydia A. Garry of Sheridan, Mo., Laura A. Anderson of Duluth, Minn., and a half brother, James M. Shelton of Wiggins, Colo., and three grand-children and a large company of old friends. Burial services were conducted at the home and at Grace Methodist church Monday, June 14h at 2:30 by Rev. A. W. Henke, minister of the church. Interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.
